It is strongly recommended that you upgrade<\/a>!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n With the launch of Symbiota 3.1 Mytabolites now uses Symbiota’s built-in Application Programming Interface<\/em> (API) to retrieve data from the server. Mytabolites 1.1.2.0 is more stable and updating routines run faster. There are also few minor bug fixes and functionality improvements.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When you try updating updating the database using version 1.0.5.1. the program returns an error and you will end up using an incomplete set of data.<\/font> <\/p>\n\n\n\n [February 19 \u2013 minor update:<\/strong> newest version is now 1.1.2.3<\/strong>; it now includes a backup routine of the database]<\/p>\n\n\n\n ______________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n November 2024:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Workflow for the Analysis of Lichen Secondary Metabolites<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Thanks to Mar\u00eda de los \u00c1ngeles Herrera Campos (M\u00e9xico) and Alba Y\u00e1nez-Ayabaca (Ecuador) we now share a Workflow for the Analysis of Lichen Secondary Metabolites<\/a>, documenting in detail a protocol using thin-layer chromatography in combination with the program Mytabolites<\/a>, developed at the ASU Lichen Herbarium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ______________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n New Program Versions Launched<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n New versions of the following programs are now available for download: LichenLabler <\/a>(to print labels) and BCRWatcher<\/a> (a program that automatically renames image files using its barcode, also including image metadata).<\/p>\n\n\n\n ______________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n October 2024:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Workshop GLAL XVI<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n As part of the XVI meeting of the<\/em> Grupo Latinoamericano de Liquen\u00f3logos<\/em><\/strong> (GLAL XVI<\/a>) we had a great in-person workshop in Mexico City on how to use Symbiota Tools in the Consortium of Lichen Herbaria to assemble advanced species checklists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n A special thanks to everyone who helped organize and teach the workshop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Detailed Instructions for creating advanced checklist (in English) are available here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n ______________________________________________________________________________________<\/p>\n\n\n\n July 2024:<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n Launch of Mytabolites<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Mytabolites<\/a> \u2013 a completely revised program for the analysis of lichen secondary metabolites using thin-layer chromatography plates has just been launched (available only for Windows, not Linux or MacOS).<\/p>\n\n\n\n The program is based on the original concept of Wintabolites<\/em>, a 16 bit program published by E. Mietzsch, H.T. Lumbsch & J.A. Elix. Mytabolites <\/em>includes the most recent chromatography data from the Catalog by J.A. ELix, it provides access to chromatograms by F. Schumm, and it integrates with the database from the Consortium of Lichen Herbaria to browse, which secondary metabolites have been reported for species featured in the Consortium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n You can download the program here<\/a>. Introduction<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

These are mostly dried, preserved herbarium specimens<\/em>, but could also refer to permanent microscope slide mounts<\/em>, photographs <\/em>and even observational records<\/em>. The Consortium <\/em>hosts both live data <\/strong>sets, where specimen data are exclusively managed online<\/em> and snapshot data<\/strong> sets, where participating institutions manage data offline <\/em>and contribute regular updates. About 70% of all collections manage their data live in CNALH.
Everyone can browse and download occurrence records (records of rare & threatened may be hidden from the public and can only be accessed by users with privileges to view these records).
To edit occurrence records you need to be affiliated with a particular institution.<\/strong> Contact CNALH.help@gmail.com<\/a> if you need admin or editor rights for a particular collection.
Individuals not affiliated with any institution can ask to manage their private collections within Observations & Personal Collections<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
Checklists are powerful tools to use occurrence records to compile species lists based on verified specimen vouchers for a particular region (local, national, international). Any registered user can compile his\/her own checklists<\/strong> and assign other registered users editor rights to collaborate with editing these lists.
Checklists are dynamic; an editor can regularly update the list. New records can be uploaded in batch and a powerful voucher-tool facilitates adding new occurrences from a particular region to the list.
Checklists can be downloaded in CSV format and as Word document, a format that requires little additional editing for a snapshot of the checklist to be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
The backbone that connects occurrence data from the specimen database with checklists is the Taxonomic Thesaurus<\/strong>. In the Checklists you can switch between your personally preferred taxonomy (the original way how you compiled the list) and the central thesaurus (i.e., the way the system manages synonymies).
The Taxonomic Thesaurus manages, which taxon names are accepted, and which ones considered synonyms. A limited group of users has editor rights to manage this thesaurus (add new names, update existing ones and adjust synonymies). All users can browse <\/em>the Taxonomic Thesaurus.<\/strong> Collection Managers with admin rights for a particular collection also have access to a Taxonomic Name Cleaner <\/strong>that uses the Thesaurus to correct and update erroneous names associated with occurrence records.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
The first two tabs allow you to manage occurrence and checklist records, in the last tab you can manage your personal information. Profile for each user look different according to the privileges assigned to an account. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
